LA Chapter August 17 Meeting

“Supply Chain Management as a Competitive Advantage”

Mike Stark
For many business owners, the primary focus of their business deals with serving their customers.

Please join us in Los Angeles on Friday, August 17, 2012, 7:30 am – 9:00 am, when Michael Stark, President of Pacer Distribution Services, will discuss the “how” of serving your customers, or as he refers to it, the “real business” of your business, through the management of your supply chain. Topics will include horizontal collaboration and sharing best practices, as well as managing a global supply chain and how to improve efficiency, both globally and locally. He will discuss how to improve days to market and reduce the cost of having too much inventory on hand. The bottom line to better supply chain management: improved customer service and reduced inventory costs.

The meeting is free, but RSVP’s in advance to Ivan Rosenberg are required to attend.

The Los Angeles chapter of The Aerospace & Defense Forum was founded by Frontier Associates and the 62 Mile Club, and is sponsored by Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Mitchell, Moss Adams, BOBsearch and The College of the Extended University at Cal Poly Pomona.

OC Chapter August 2 Meeting

“Expanding International Business”

Jason Childs

Expanding internationally can be a daunting task, but the reward is significant. The U.S. aerospace industry is the largest in the world. In 2010, despite the lingering effects of the global economic downturn, the U.S. aerospace industry made $85 billion in export sales. BRIC (Brazil, China, India and Russia) were a significant portion of that and are experiencing significant growth. Aerospace product consumption is on the rise around the world and well prepared U.S. suppliers are the major beneficiary. Please join us on Thursday, August 2, 2012, 7:30 am – 9:00 am, for an opportunity to accelerate your international expansion. Jason Childs, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Engineered Materials Platform, Esterline Technologies Corporation, will discuss market penetration strategy, IP protection, staff selection, and basic contract development.

Jason Sproule, Senior International Trade Specialist, U.S. Commercial Service will describe how to access the many types of export assistance offered by the US Government at little or no cost to domestic suppliers.

In addition, suppliers will have an opportunity to connect with Esterline procurement.

The meeting is free, but RSVP’s in advance to Ivan Rosenberg are required to attend.

The Orange County chapter was founded by Frontier Associates and D.A. Davidson & Co., and is sponsored by Burdge Logistics, Boyle, Ogata, Bregman, Moss Adams, and Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth.

LA Chapter July 20 Meeting

“Ensuring Future A&D Competitiveness”

Liz Kennick
David Knight
As A&D customers outsource more assembly, engineering, and supply chain management, having access to qualified engineers is becoming critical to long-term survival of an A&D supplier. However, for many reasons there is a significant lack of such candidates in the US, which could lead to serious competitive disadvantages of US A&D companies versus international suppliers.

This month’s LA chapter meeting focuses on how to interest and inspire current and future generations in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Please join us in Los Angeles on Friday, July 20, 2012, 7:30 am – 9:00 am when Elizabeth Kennick, Project Manager, Teachers in Space, Space Frontier Foundation, will discuss the present situation and what we can do as individuals and A&D companies to help turn things around. David Knight will show sections of an upcoming documentary about the Space Shuttle that will excite the public, and especially our youth, in aerospace and STEM.

The meeting is free, but RSVP’s in advance to Ivan Rosenberg are required to attend.

The Los Angeles chapter of The Aerospace & Defense Forum was founded by Frontier Associates and the 62 Mile Club, and is sponsored by Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Mitchell, Moss Adams, Boyle, Ogata, Bregman, and Cal Poly Pomona.

OC CHAPTER MAY 3 MEETING

“Orbital Sciences Corporation and the Changing Landscape of Commercial Space”

These are challenging yet exciting times for the Space Industry. Years of indecision and redirection have eroded the U.S. position of dominance in space and beleaguered the U.S. industrial base. Continued budget pressures and other pressing national priorities have severely curtailed Government spending while costs continue to escalate. Meanwhile, other countries are exerting their influence in space and new companies are emerging, promising to redefine traditional space markets and create new ones, including space tourism. Please join us in Costa Mesa on Thursday, May 3, 2012, 7:30am-9:00am, when John Steinmeyer, Senior Systems Project Manager, Launch Systems Group, Orbital Sciences Corporation, will discuss the changes in the Space Industry and Orbital’s pivotal role in the emerging commercial sector, with specific emphasis on Orbital’s Antares and Cygnus vehicles for ISS resupply.

The meeting is free, but RSVP’s in advance to Ivan Rosenberg are required to attend.

The Orange County chapter was founded by Frontier Associates and D.A. Davidson & Co., and is sponsored by GE Capital, Burdge Logistics and Boyle, Ogata, Bregman. Breakfast is being sponsored by Hein & Associates.
