The use of composites in aircraft structures has been one of the most pronounced developments in the aerospace industry in recent years, but the market for aluminum aircraft is still very strong. How long will it take to phase-out aluminum structured aircraft, if ever?

More importantly, how will this composite transition progress? We’ve seen new aircraft built with airframes that are primarily composite, while other new aircraft utilize composites in just certain components, such as the wings.
