The State of the Art in Vertical Take-off and Landing Aircraft

DFW Chapter meeting at Bell Helicopter, Fort Worth, on March 8

Please join us on Thursday, March 8, 7:30-8:55am when Eldon Metzger, Sr. Business Development Manager, UAS, Bell Helicopter, will give us an overview of the current state of the art in manned and unmanned vertical take-off and landing aircraft, including Bell Helicopter’s V280 Valor program, the V247 unmanned program and the Automatic Pod Transport (APT) autonomous vehicle. We will also hear about Bell’s recent Air Taxi Concept Experience at CES, where Bell previewed their vision of the future of urban air transportation.

Challenges facing the growing Drone market are addressed looking at the intricacies of wiring harnesses inside drones and the dangers of having wiring that is incorrectly terminated. Empirical data from the Defense Department shows the causes and the costs associated with bad wiring harnesses and the need for increased awareness as it relates to wiring inside drones.

Airbus Helicopters is not very well known in the local area. Join us in Arlington, TX on Thur, July 13, 7:30–9:00am (networking and breakfast at 7am), when Lloyd Reaves, Chief Engineer Completions, Airbus Helicopters, Inc. will delve a little into the history of the company starting back at Vought Helicopters up through today’s Airbus. The presentation also gives emphasis on the UH-72 Lakota program. This program has delivered over 400 aircraft to the US Army and Army National Guard on time and on budget.
