“Urgency for DoD Contractors – Cybersecurity Compliance Required by Dec 31, 2017”

“Urgency for DoD Contractors – Cybersecurity Compliance Required by Dec 31, 2017”

A&D Forum Meeting in Torrance, CA on Sept 13

Given the dramatic increase in successful Cyber attacks in 2017 you might expect that Aerospace and Defense suppliers would be scrambling to protect themselves. Cyber attacks have become more damaging, more frequent, and more successful. DoD’s Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) has increased communications to DoD suppliers on the compliance deadline of December 31, 2017. Even with all the evidence, many manufacturers have not started to improve their Cyber Defenses. Consequences could include loss of DoD contracts.

Please join us on Wed, Sept 13, 7:30-9:00am in Torrance, CA when Chris Buthe, Manager of Cyber Physical Security Services, CMTC, will provide OEMs and suppliers with an update from the DCMA and information on compliance.

The event is free for A&D Forum and NDIA members and $40 for non-members ($30 Early Bird until Sept 6). For more information and to register to attend go to http://adfsbsept17.eventbrite.com.

Being Cyber-attacked – Not “If” but “When”

Being Cyber-attacked – Not “If” but “When”attack

A&D Forum Meeting in Torrance, CA on January 11

Manufacturing is now a prime target for cyber villains. Great profits can be gained by attackers who steal intellectual property. Data is sold to foreign adversaries or industrial competitors. Blackmail is profitable when production can be disrupted.

As the production floor increased adoption of digital systems and connectivity, there has been a corresponding increase in the vulnerability of those operational technologies (OT) and systems. Many OT systems have not been designed with cybersecurity in mind

On Wednesday, January 11, 7:30am – 9:00am Flynn Sears of Goodyear Rubber Company of Southern California, will share his experiences regarding attacks on Goodyear Rubber. Michael Villegas of K3DES will bring the latest cybersecurity knowledge to bear on the manufacturing floor, including examples of successful attacks and remedies that companies should take.

This session will prepare you to know why manufacturing attacks are increasing at an alarming rate, and what can be done to protect your business.

The meeting is free for A&D Forum members and $40 for non-members ($30 Early Bird until January 4). For more information and to register to attend the meeting, go to http://adfsbjan17.eventbrite.com.

Tour of Avcorp Composite Fabrication

Tour of Avcorp Composite Fabrication atl-picture

Aerospace & Defense Forum Meeting in Gardena, CA on November 9

Weight is everything when it comes to heavier-than-air machines, and designers have striven continuously to improve lift to weight ratios since man first took to the air. Composite materials have played a major part in weight reduction and will pave the way to the future of flight in flying machines yet to be designed.

Join us on Wednesday, November 9, 7:30am – 9:00am PDT, for a tour of Avcorp Composite Fabrication (ACF) to see a view of modern composites methods applied to both commercial and military aircraft. The degree of automation and the scale of the operation will surprise most visitors.

ACF provides structural composite components for the Boeing 787 (The Dreamliner), the Joint Strike Fighter (F-35 Lightening), the Atlas V rocket, the Trident Strategic Missile program and many others.

The meeting is free for A&D Forum members and $40 for non-members ($30 Early Bird until November 2). Advanced registration is required. For more information and to register to attend the meeting, go to http://adfsbnov16.eventbrite.com.

“What Aerospace Suppliers Need to Know about Cloud Computing”

“What Aerospace Suppliers Need to Know about Cloud Computing”man-w-cloud-questions

Aerospace & Defense Forum Meeting in Torrance, CA on October 13

Most of us have heard of “the cloud,” but for many the whole concept is still surrounded by confusion. This session seeks to clarify a range of key ideas and principles around Cloud Computing and help you make sense of it all. This is an issue that aerospace suppliers and organizations will continue to grapple with even more in the coming months and years, so we are offering this presentation to help prepare you better for that journey.

Cloud computing enables a fundamental paradigm shift in how businesses deploy and deliver computing services. In order to appreciate the true value of the cloud, it is important to fully understand some of the myths surrounding its adoption. This session will also clarify the confusion surrounding many of those myths.

Please join us in Torrance on Thursday, October 13, 2016, 7:30am – 9:00am PDT (networking at 7:00am), when Aaron Johnson, Business Development Manager, Tribridge and Gary Rubenstein, Managing Partner, Rubenstein / Justman Management Consultants, will address these and other questions. Aaron will be discussing these concepts in general terms and not focusing on any one option or offering. A number of Gary’s clients have deployed solutions in the cloud, and he will offer a perspective on how to approach a cloud deployment of a solution if you ever face that kind of initiative within your operation.

The meeting is free for A&D Forum members and $40 for non-members ($30 Early Bird until October 6). Advanced registration is required. For more information and to register to attend the meeting, go to http://adfsboct16.eventbrite.com.
