“Maximizing Enterprise Value: It’s Never too Soon to Start!”

“Maximizing Enterprise Value: It’s Never too Soon to Start!”

San Diego Chapter meeting on Janaury 24

As we all know, the aerospace industry is currently experiencing a frenzy of acquisitions.

Selling a business is all about risk. The higher the risk, the lower the value. The lower the risk, the higher the value. As business leaders, it is a primary function of our positions to increase the attractiveness of our businesses and ready them for scrutiny by a potential buyer. Whether you run a department, or an entire business, creating enterprise value is a key part, if not the sole purpose, of the job. Too often, however, thought is given too late in the game.

Please join us on Tuesday, January 24 (networking: 5:30-6:15pm, meeting: 6:15-7:45pm PST), when Larry O’Toole, CEO, Integrated Polymer Solutions, will discuss the tangible and effective steps that can be taken to build enterprise value and, most of all, how to capture it through a liquidity event.

The meeting is free for members & $40 for non-members ($30 Early Bird until Jan 17). For more information and to register to attend the meeting go to http://adfsdjan17.eventbrite.com.

Information about joining The A&D Forum is at https://aerospacedefenseforum.org.

The San Diego chapter is sponsored by Moss Adams, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, LevitZacks, and Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton.

Being Cyber-attacked – Not “If” but “When”

Being Cyber-attacked – Not “If” but “When”attack

A&D Forum Meeting in Torrance, CA on January 11

Manufacturing is now a prime target for cyber villains. Great profits can be gained by attackers who steal intellectual property. Data is sold to foreign adversaries or industrial competitors. Blackmail is profitable when production can be disrupted.

As the production floor increased adoption of digital systems and connectivity, there has been a corresponding increase in the vulnerability of those operational technologies (OT) and systems. Many OT systems have not been designed with cybersecurity in mind

On Wednesday, January 11, 7:30am – 9:00am Flynn Sears of Goodyear Rubber Company of Southern California, will share his experiences regarding attacks on Goodyear Rubber. Michael Villegas of K3DES will bring the latest cybersecurity knowledge to bear on the manufacturing floor, including examples of successful attacks and remedies that companies should take.

This session will prepare you to know why manufacturing attacks are increasing at an alarming rate, and what can be done to protect your business.

The meeting is free for A&D Forum members and $40 for non-members ($30 Early Bird until January 4). For more information and to register to attend the meeting, go to http://adfsbjan17.eventbrite.com.

“Where Science Gets Down to Business”

“Where Science Gets Down to Business”cnc-training

Los Angeles Chapter meeting on November 18

Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) industries are critical drivers of economic growth. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that seven of the ten fastest growing occupations are in STEM fields, and California is expected to have over 1 million STEM jobs within five years, far more than any other state. Our State’s and indeed our Nation’s future economic success is closely tied to innovation, invention, intellectual property development, entrepreneurialism and preparing a workforce with the talent, creativity, skills and knowledge to innovate in STEM fields.

Kelly Space & Technology, Inc. (KST) is a privately-held company established in 1993 serving the aerospace, defense and technology industry sectors, based in San Bernardino, California at the former Norton Air Force Base. KST operates the Aerospace Research & Development Center (ARDC) as a center of technical excellence to develop, test and deploy critical technologies that provide advancements in defense, aviation and space. KST’s business approach is to identify and deploy revenue-generating, commercial applications of space-related technology while creating financially-viable and sustainable lines of business.

Please join us in Los Angeles on Friday, November 18, 2016, 7:30am – 9:00am PDT (networking at 7:00am), when Michael J. Gallo, President & CEO, Kelly Space & Technology, will describe how, concurrent with KST’s project development and testing activities, KST and its 501(c)(3) non-profit, Technical Employment Training, Inc., has implemented business-education partnerships to provide our youth and adult students with relevant, exciting, hands-on instruction and training that captures student interest, motivates life-long learning and produces a technologically literate workforce. KST believe this investment in building the capacity of our residents to effectively compete for demand occupations within the various STEM related industries will not only help build our business, but transform our region through educational attainment, workforce investment and economic development.
