“New Rules for DoD Acquisitions”

“New Rules for DoD Acquisitions”Better Buying Power 3.0

San Diego Chapter meeting on May 19

Come and get an insight into the new rules government PMs and acquisition folks have to follow. Contractors still need to be responsive to the rules of an RFP. However, such an insight can help you know how to tweak some areas of the response to better meet what you now know they need or must focus on to satisfy DoD and thus make your proposals more relevant; or you can be sure to use the right words; or you can offer an option for other things you know they need.

Please join us in San Diego on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 (networking at 5:30pm, meeting and refreshments 6:00– 7:30pm PST), when Woody Spring, Professor of Systems Engineering, Defense Acquisition University, will explain the Better Buying Power initiatives, and clarify what’s new in BBP 3.0, and why. All those selling to the Dept. of Defense need to understand this guidance, as it is impacting the way DoD does business in acquiring products and services.

The meeting is free for A&D Forum members and $40 for non-members ($30 Early Bird until May 12). For more information and to register to attend the meeting go to http://adfsdmay15.eventbrite.com.

“Developing the 21st Century Space Infrastructure”

“Developing the 21st Century Space Infrastructure”space infrastructure 1

Los Angeles Chapter meeting on May 15

In the fall of 2009 the Review of United States Human Space Flight Plans Committee (also known as the Augustine Commission for its Chairman and former CEO of Lockheed Martin Norm Augustine) released its findings. In the five years since, much progress has been made in achieving the recommendations of the committee and other broader space objectives. Cargo is being delivered to the International Space Station by commercial companies with the capability to deliver crew to be realized as soon as 2017, freeing NASA once again set to its sights on pushing to new frontiers; a competitive market for access to space appears to be developing and new entrants are forming to service a variety of payloads from small to large; and the national security space enterprise is developing new capabilities to ensure continued U.S. dominance in and through space.

But much more needs to be done to fully achieve the goal of “a space program worthy of a great nation” as described in the committee’s final report.

While serving as the Chief of Advanced Concepts in the Pentagon’s National Security Space Office, Paul E. Damphousse was selected to serve as the NASA Fellow for Florida Senator and former Chair of the Senate Space Subcommittee Bill Nelson from 2009-2010.

Please join us in Los Angeles on Friday, May 15, 2015, 7:30am – 9:00am PDT (networking at 7:00am), when Paul, now Principal and Founder, General Astronautics, will discuss the activities of that period and since, and will discuss the opportunities for infrastructure development for the civil, commercial, and national security space programs of the 21st century.

The meeting is free for A&D Forum members and $40 for non-members ($30 Early Bird until May 8). For more information and to register to attend the meeting in person or for free via the web, go to https://adflamay15.eventbrite.com.
